Keithley 6517B Electrometer

The Keithley 6517B is an Electrometer and a High Resistance Meter designed to measure resistances up to 10¹⁸ Ω. This model features 10×10^–18 A current measurement resolution and is a comprehensive hardware-software solution for high resistivity measurements defined in the ASTM D257. This model is considered as the worldwide standard for sensitive measurements. The Keithley 6517B is capable of measuring charge levels as low as 1 fC.

This model offers complete autoranging over the full span of its range on voltage, resistance, current, and charge measurements. This model comes with a powerful combination of measurement capabilities and offers an ultra-sensitive ammeter with the provision of 10 aA to 20 mA current measurement. It also features an ultrahigh range ohmmeter that can be used for the measurement of resistance from 1 Ω to 10¹⁸ Ω. The Keithley 6517B comes with a built-in voltage source and can determine the relationship between the level of source voltage used and an insulator`s resistivity.

The Keithley 6517B offers a variety of internal test sequences that help in quickly setting up and conducting numerous tests. Its sequences for device characterization include measurements for diode leakage, capacitor leakage, cable insulation resistance, and resistor voltage coefficient. This model also features a broad range of resistance related tests such as volume resistivity, surface resistivity, surface insulation resistivity, etc. Temperature and resistivity are two parameters which can significantly influence the resistivity values of materials. To assist the user with completing precise comparisons of readings acquired under changing conditions, this model features an incorporated K thermocouple. An optional relative humidity probe can also be coupled with the Keithley 6517B.
