Keithley PIO-96J Digital I/O Board

Featured with pulse output, period counting, and period measurements, the Keithley PIO-96J is a 96-line, digital input/output board. This model is designed for IBM® PC series machines.  This model comes equipped with 8-bits PA and PB ports which can be configured as inputs or outputs. Moreover, the PC port incorporated is also a byte-wide. This port can be divided into two independent 4-bit ports: PC upper and PC lower. Both two 4-bit ports can be used as either an input or output.

The Keithley PIO-96J comes with an internal control register. All ports included on this port get cleared and go in a digital-input mode when the unit is powered up or the computer`s hardware reset line is actuated. This I/O interface board utilizes 16 successive I/O addresses within the computer’s I/O address space. A base address switch is used to set up the board`s base address. Multiple units of the Keithley PIO-96J can also be installed in a single PC. However, each installed unit uses different I/O addresses and no two boards can use a similar address.

The I/O connectors get +5V power from the standard computer power supply. For each port, the I/O connections utilize a 0.1 inch, 50-pin header connector. This arrangement allows minimum crosstalk and maximum shielding as a ground wire cable is placed between each I/O connector. The mounting plate of the Keithley PIO-96J Digital I/O Board comes with an adjustable cable clamp. This clamp ensures the safety of flat cables. The Keithley PIO-96J can easily be installed in any unoccupied expansion slot of a PC with correct hardware and software resources.
