National Instruments CB-2180 Digital Audio Accessory

Featured with software-selectable channels and real-time measurement capabilities, the National Instruments CB-2180 is a Digital Audio Accessory designed for Digital Video Analyzer and Digital Audio Solutions. The NI CB-2180 comes equipped with two BNC connectors and two optical connectors. This accessory can be used to connect DUTs with TOSLINK or BNC connectors to the National Instruments PXI-7813R. The CB-2180 comes with two input channels and each channel has a selectable TOSLINK for optical or BNC for coaxial connection.

With this Digital Audio Accessory, you can select each channel by using the software. An LED interface is also provided with each channel that visually indicates whether the input is locked or not to the received S/PDIF inputs. This arrangement simplifies the testing mechanism when there are multiple devices involved. The NI CB-2180 is widely utilized as an integral audio accessory in various systems.

As an example, consider NI AudioMASTER where the CB-2180 is used in conjunction with the PXI-7813R Reconfigurable I/O Module and NI AudioMASTER software. The combination of this digital audio accessory, an appropriate I/O device, and software can prove to be a cost-effective solution for testing of S/PDIF enabled devices, such as DVD players, home theater systems, set-top boxes, etc. These devices cannot be connected to the reconfigurable I/O devices directly. The CB-2180 enables you to acquire S/PDIF signals in AC-3 or linear PCM formats. This Digital Audio Accessory is also fully compatible with NI TestStand.

CB-2180 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the accessory will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
