National Instruments CPS-8910 Switch Device for PCI Express

The CPS-8910 is a rack-mountable peripheral component interconnect (PCI) Express Switch Device. The NI CPS-8910 Switch Device is designed by National Instruments. The CPS-8910 device is offered by NI with the part number 784307-01. The NI CPS-8910 comes with 10 ports. The CPS-8910 device features two upstream ports and eight downstream ports. The upstream ports consist of one Gen 2 x8 and one Gen 1 x4 PCI Express connector, while the eight downstream ports are Gen 1 x4 connectors. Through these PCI Express connectors, the NI CPS-8910 can be expanded to work for a wide range of applications with external devices.

The CPS-8910 Switch Device’s expansion feature results in the development of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems. The NI CPS-8910 device can be stacked with other NI CPS-8910 devices to be connected with one PXI Express framework, thereby creating a giant MIMO system, with a tunable radio configurable device. In the applications of MIMO systems, the CPS-8910 is capable of massive throughput.

The National Instruments CPS-8910 Switch Device can be used with 12 V copper or fiber optic cables. The NI CPS-8910 consumes 20 W power when used with copper cables and 54 W power when connected with fiber optic cables. The CPS-8910 device has an aperture along both of the sides for ventilation. The NI CPS-8910 functions optimally at rated parameters in the temperature range of 0^o C to 55^o C. The CPS-8910 Switch Device’s safety features are designed according to IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA 61010-1 standards.
