National Instruments AT-GPIB IEEE 488.2 Interface Board

The AT-GPIB is an interface board developed by National Instruments. The NI AT-GPIB refers to an NI GPIB board for the ISA bus, which is designed with the Turbo488 and NAT4882 ASICs. The NI-488.2 driver software is used for the installation of the NI AT-GPIB Interface Board. The NI-488.2 driver is compatible with MS-DOS version 3.0 or later. The application software packages compatible with the board are listed as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio.

This IEEE 488.2 Interface Board is designed for PC AT computer systems. The NI AT-GPIB is also used for controlling functions, IEEE 488 Listener, Talker, and GPIB standard code like IEEE 488.2 based on the TNT4882C chip associated with the board. The AT-GPIB can handle the data transfer rate of more than 1 Mega-bytes/s. To use AT-GPIB with an EISA computer, the AT-GPIB board can improve the data transfer up to 3.4 Mbytes/s by installing the high-speed protocol of GPIB (HS488). This board can also optionally be used with accessories such as shielded GPIB cables (1 m, 2 m, or 4 m), a GPIB-SWITCH Box, GPIB Bus Extenders, or a GPIB Connector Expander.

The AT-GPIB board has the capacity to connect to as many as 13 devices. More devices can be connected with the use of a bus extender or expander. In ISA computer systems, the NI AT-GPIB can achieve 1.6 Mbytes/s transfer rates. The +5 VDC voltage is used for the AT-GPIB. The AT-GPIB board is certified by the standard protocols of FCC Class B. This IEEE 488.2 Interface Board has an IEEE 488 standard 24-pin I/O connector.
