National Instruments AT-MIO-16F-5 Multifunction I/O Board

The AT-MIO-16F-5 (Part Number: 180985-01) is a multifunction digital, analog, and timing input/output board designed and manufactured by National Instruments.  The NI AT-MIO-16F-5 is created for use with the IBM PC AT and compatibles, as well as EISA PCs. This Multifunction I/O Board is an advanced version of the AT-MIO-16 with added features, such as higher throughput, more gains, software pretriggering, software configurable analog input, and more.

This board features 16 single-ended terminals. The channels of the AT-MIO-16F-5 can also be programmed to be used as 8 differential channels. The number of channels can be increased by using the AT-MIO-16F-5 with the AMUX-64T multiplexer board. With the AMUX-64T multiplexer board, the input channels for the AT-MIO-16F-5 board can be increased to 64 single-ended and 32 differential inputs. The input channels can be further increased to 256 single-ended channels by cascading 4 AMUX-64T multiplexer boards.

This Multifunction I/O Board features a 256-word analog to digital buffer, sampling analog to digital converter (ADC) providing a data transfer rate of nearly 200 ksamples/sec, and a variable gain setting ranging from 0.5 to 100. Additionally, the AT-MIO-16F-5 board contains 12-bit, double-buffered digital to analog converters, which provide voltage output in unipolar and bipolar format, auto-calibration circuitry, 8 digital input/output lines, 4 triggers, and an RTSI bus interface.

The NI AT-MIO-16F-5 board is used for process control, level monitoring, electronic testing, transient analysis, data logging, chromatography, signal analysis, and a variety of other functions. The TTL compatible digital input lines of the board support switching control of relays, process control, and inter-machine communication. The onboard 16-bit timers are used for clock generation, control of laboratory equipment and measurement of events, frequency, and pulse-width, making the automatic control and monitoring of laboratory processes possible.
