National Instruments BNC-2178 High-Speed Switch/VideoMUX Multiplexer

The BNC-2178 is a High-Speed Switch/VideoMUX Multiplexer that can be used with the NI Analog Video Analyzer, which utilizes an NI-5122 or NI-5124 Digitizer with the NI Video Measurement Suite. The NI BNC-2178 was manufactured by National Instruments. National Instruments assigns a unique part number to each of its products for identification. The part number assigned to the BNC-2178 Multiplexer is 747237-01.

The NI BNC-2178 functions as a multiplexer when used with S-video or composite signals. The VideoMUX is used for different synchronization and measurements. This VideoMUX is comprised of two internal parts. One part has two nine-channel multiplexers, while the other part is the Video Synch Extractor. The VideoMUX system consists of PCBs and a controller. A VideoSE function is also featured in the VideoMUX multiplexer system. The driver software for the VideoMUX system is NI VMS 3.1 or later and VideoMASTER Analyzer 3.0 and earlier.

The National Instruments BNC-2178 high-speed Switch offers several sampling rates. The real-time sampling rate is 100 MS/s. The equivalent-time sampling rate may be as fast as 2.0 GS/s. The input is from 2 mV to 100 mV when utilized with a TEGAM signal conditioning amplifier. This VideoMUX also has 16 composite video channels.

BNC-2178 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the multiplexer will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
