National Instruments NI-9239 C Series Voltage Input Module

The National Instruments NI-9239 is a 24-Bit, 4-Channel Voltage Input Module from the C Series. This model is designed to operate over an analog input voltage range of -10 V to 10 V. The NI 9239 has a maximum sampling rate of 50 kS/s for each of its 4 channels. The NI 9239 module is available in a couple different variations. Part number 779593-01 with screw terminal connectors, and part number 782402-01 which also has screw terminal connectors but is conformal coated. Part number 780181-01 has BNC connectors, while part number 192580-51 is the OEM /analog input red module version of the NI-9239.

The screw terminal connector versions of the NI-9239 offer 250 Vrms analog input isolation on the channel-to-channel basis. The NI 9239 BNC version offers 60 VDC Ch-Ch isolation. This feature brings safety to the user’s entire system, since it protects the system and the device under test from harmful voltage surges. Moreover, the isolation assists in minimizing ground loop related measurement errors because the front end of the module remains floating.  The National Instruments NI-9239 is an ideal, general-purpose module in its class because of its sample rate, input range, resolution, speed, and accuracy.

The NI 9239 is run using the NI-DAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, ANSI C, Microsoft Visual C++, Microsoft Visual Basic .NET, and Microsoft Visual C#.

The screw terminal versions of this module consume 740 mW, while the BNC version consumes 800 mW of power in active mode. Apart from continuous channel-to-channel isolation, the NI-9239 is tested to withstand up to 1,390 V of surge voltages. This device offers 250 Vrms of continuous channel-to-earth ground isolation. Similarly, the NI 9239 with BNC connectors offers 60 VDC continuous, Channel-to-earth ground isolation.

The screw terminal fitted model of the NI device weighs 5.2 oz, while its BNC counterpart weighs 6.0 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C, and a random and sinusoidal operating vibration of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.
