National Instruments NI-9350 C Series Functional Safety Module

The National Instruments NI-9350 (Part Number: 784445-01) is an 8-Channel, Functional Safety Module designed to work with 24 V industrial logic levels. This model offers direct connectivity to various types of sensors, including emergency e-stop buttons and light curtains. In addition, the NI 9350 can be used with final control elements such as contactors, motor drivers, and relays.

This Functional Safety Module is capable of SIL 3 certification as defined by IEC 61508. Users can easily program the internal safety logic solver incorporated in this module with the help of Functional Safety Editor software. The National Instruments NI-9350 module comes featured with user-programmable and automatic self-diagnostics for monitoring the integrity of the connections and the status of hardware.

 The NI-9350 module uses a 4 V digital signal to actuate safety devices. This Functional Safety Module comes with 8 digital input channels which receive 0 V to 30 V sinking inputs, as well as 8 digital output channels to generate sourcing type outputs.  This device offers 60 V DC, continuous channel-to-earth isolation and is tested to provide 1,000 V_RMS withstand isolation voltage.  

The NI-9350 comes equipped with an integrated input power protection mechanism that turns off the device and all channels if the supply voltages fall beyond the rated voltage input range. At no DO load, this module draws 1.05 Watts of power (max), and at full DO load, it consumes 61.6 Watts of power. The module offers 250 mA maximum continuous output current on each of its channels.
