National Instruments NI-9435 C Series Digital Module

The NI-9435 (Part number: 779010-01) is a 4 Digital Input Channel Universal C Series Digital Module that can be installed in a CompactDAQ or CompactRIO chassis. This device has the capacity to create a direct connection with a broad range of industry-grade transducers, switches, and devices with its broad digital I/O logic levels.

The NI-9435 Digital Module has 10-terminal Screw Terminal front connectors, a maximum update rate of 3 ms, Sinking/Sourcing Inputs, 250 Vrms continuous Channel-to-Earth ground isolation, and does not have channel-to-channel isolation. Each of the 4 channels of this module can accept signals from ±5–250 VDC and from 10–250 VAC. Each channel of this module also has transitory voltage overload protection and a Liquid Electronic Display that allows the user to read the status of the channel.

The NI 9435 operates on Real-Time OS and Windows, and has software compatibility with LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, SignalExpress, Visual Studio, and Visual Studio .NET. LabVIEW Professional for Windows is ideal for advanced measurement analysis and signal processing, and compact integration with a broad variety of NI hardware. The NI LabWindows™/CVI for Windows offers basic cross-platform communication with network variables and complete compatibility with IVI, VISA, DAQ, GPIB, and serial. With the NI LabVIEW Real-Time, the user can take advantage of graphical programming to design deterministic real time applications. The device consumes up to 105 mW of power when active, and 1.3 mW maximum when in sleep mode.

It is important to note that the NI 9435 module cannot be connected to signals or operated with measurements within Measurement Categories III or IV. The NI device weighs 5.3 oz (150 g). It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of –40 to 70 °C and –40 to 85 °C respectively, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10 to 90% RH and 5 to 95% RH respectively, random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 5 to 500 Hz. The digital module is designed to comply with the following electrical safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA 61010-1.
