National Instruments NI-9436 C Series Digital Module

The NI-9436 (Part number: 784338-01) manufactured by National Instruments is a Digital C Series Module with 8 Digital Sinking/Sourcing (Input Only) Channels. This module has Screw Terminal front connectors, 250 Vrms Ch-Ch and Ch-Earth Isolation, no conformal coating, and is an enclosed module. There is also a protective backshell on the NI-9436 for additional durability.

This Digital Module is compatible with CompactRIO and CompactDAQ systems and can be moved between those platforms without a need for changes. CompactRIO incorporates a rugged, open-embedded form factor with the NI-9436 and NI LabVIEW reconfigurable I/O to carry out high precision measurement requirements for a large variety of applications. The NI 9436 Digital Module is supported in CompactDAQ also, creating a portable system that combines functions such as connectivity, data acquisition, and signal conditioning into modular I/O. The result is a direct interface for signals. When this module is used with LabVIEW, it facilitates the acquisition, analysis, visualization, and management of the user’s data.

The software recommended for the NI-9436 module is LabVIEW, NI LabVIEW FPGA Module, and NI LabVIEW Real-Time Module. These modules enable users to execute a broad range of advanced functions. The digital I/O logic levels for this Digital Module are 120 VAC, 120 VDC, 240 VAC, 240 VDC. The maximum update rate is 20 ms. For input characteristics, the NI 9436 accepts 74 VDC/ 68 VAC (voltage), 500 µA DC/ ≥800 µA ACpeak (current), and input frequency range from 50 Hz to 400 Hz.
