The NI-9977 (Part Numbers: 196917-01, 196917-51, 196917B-01L, 196917C-01L) is a C Series Slot Filler made to accommodate any C Series chassis model–an example is the NI 9242 voltage input module. The NI-9977 is a non-functional, blank C Series module that can be used to fill empty slots in the CompactRio and CompactDAQ Chassis. The NI-9977 will fill any chassis that normally accepts the C Series modules. Part number 196917-51 is the Red Module OEM version of the NI-9977.
The NI 9977 C Series Slot Filler also protects the assembly’s unfilled C Series chassis slots from debris and dirt. By filling empty chassis slots not in use, the NI-9977 aims to maintain system quality and performance.
The National Instruments NI-9977 C Series Slot Filler is a back shell that attaches to the 4-terminal connector on the NI-9242. The NI-9977 assembly can connect single- or three-phase measurement configurations.
To install the NI-9977 screw terminal strain relief and operator protection accessory, the following wires may be used: 12 AWG to 14 AWG, 16 AWG, and 18 AWG to 24 AWG. The selected wires determine the method of installation. To install the NI 9977 Using 12 AWG to 14 AWG Wire, Route wires under the smallest strain-relief piece. When installing the NI-9977 using the 16 AWG wire, Route wires between the two strain-relief pieces, with the small strain-relief piece on top of the wires and the large strain-relief piece underneath the wires. To install the NI 9977 using the 18 AWG to 24 AWG wire, Route wires under the largest strain-relief piece. Once wires have been properly routed within the assembly, secure the NI-9977 C Series Slot Filler pieces in place using screws.
