National Instruments cRIO-PB-MS C Series PROFIBUS Interface Module    

The cRIO-PB-MS is a C Series Master-Slave PROFIBUS Interface Module. The cRIO-PB-MS is offered by KUNBUS and National Instruments. The NI cRIO-PB-MS is launched with the part number 781352-01. The cRIO-PB-MS is designed to enable CompactRIO systems to communicate with typical PROFIBUS DP Networks. The NI cRIO-PB-MS is associated with the C Series of modules by National Instruments. The cRIO-PB-MS module is fabricated to support PROFIBUS baud rates up to 12000 kbits/s.

The National Instruments cRIO-PB-MS PROFIBUS Interface Module has the PROFIBUS DP Master configuration in the flash memory. The NI cRIO-PB-MS is compatible with CompactRIO systems. The cRIO-PB-MS connects NI programmable automation controllers (PACs) to PROFIBUS industrial networks. The NI cRIO-PB-MS will support communication with linked DP slaves in DP Master Mode that are cyclic DPV0 Master Class 1 Services and acyclic DPV1 Master Class 2. In the cRIO-PB-MS, the PROFIBUS DP Master Configuration is developed by the full graphical Windows-based configuration tool, Configuration III. In DP Slave Mode, the NI cRIO-PB-MS automatically detects the baud rate of the network and maintains cyclic input/output data to 240 bytes maximum. 

The cRIO-PB-MS PROFIBUS Interface Module is available with an easily operated FPGA driver interface and a sample code to sync directly into the user application. If the NI cRIO-PB-MS module only supports Slave mode, it cannot be operated as a DP Master. One can find the supported operation mode on the sticker on the backside of the SPI plug. In the cRIO-PB-MS, the DP Master API can handle single DP Slaves or the entire process image can handle all DP Slaves simultaneously.
