National Instruments cFP-2220 Controller for Compact FieldPoint

Featured with 2 Ethernet ports and 1 USB port, the National Instruments cFP-2220 (Part Number: 777317-2220) is a Controller designed for Compact FieldPoint. This model offers 400 MHz of processing speed, 256 MB of DRAM, and 256 MB of storage. With this module, different control strategies can be implemented because it can be utilized as a real-time, embedded Controller, as well as an Ethernet interface. This model has a removable CompactFlash and a removable USB. It has a recommended PWM rate of 20kHz, which can reach a maximum rate of 40 kHz. The device is compatible with software packages such as FieldPoint software 6.0.1 or later, and LabVIEW Real-Time Module 8.5.1 or later.

The USB port incorporated in the cFP 2220 can be used for connecting USB flash drives in the operating state. In LabVIEW, USB devices appears as U: drive by default. It is to be noted that the NI cFP-2220 does not support any other type of USB devices and the port provided can only be used for transferring data to or from the Controller. The cFP-2220 can be linked to a 4- or 8-slot Backplane and controls many types of hot-swappable I/O modules. If a system needs over eight Compact FieldPoint modules, then the cFP-1808 Expansion Chassis delivers a simple solution. One cFP-2220 Controller can link to as many extra cFP-1808 network interface systems as the Ethernet network enables.

This Controller has six DIP switches. The factory setting for these switches is "Off". However, users can adjust all or any of the DIP switches as per their requirements. These DIP switches include: IP RESET, NO APP, CONS OUT, and SAFE MODE. In addition, a couple of user customizable switches, USER 1 and USER 2, are provided, which can be defined for the user’s specific application.

The Real-Time engine comes with a FTP (file transfer protocol) server. The combination of this server and any FTP utility brings the user the ability of transferring files to and from the internal hard drive of the cFP-2220. This Controller offers auto-negotiated 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps communication rates and is compatible with IEEE 802.3. The device weighs 5.5 oz.
