National Instruments cRIO-9081 CompactRIO Controller

The National Instruments cRIO-9081 (Part Numbers: 781787-01 and 781787-11) is a rugged, CompactRIO Controller. This 8-Slot model comes equipped with an Intel Celeron U3405, 1.06 GHz, Dual-Core CPU, 16 GB of Internal Storage, and 2 GB DRAM. Moreover, the cRIO 9081 has a powerful FPGA (Spartan-6 LX75 by Xilinx) as well. Both the processor and FPGA included in this Controller can run either Windows Embedded Standard 7 or a real-time OS. The National Instruments cRIO-9081 in known best for its broad connectivity options range. The CPU incorporated in this module has 256 KB x2 on-die L2 cache and 2 MB (shared) on-die L3 cache.

This CompactRIO Controller features two Ethernet Ports, which support 10 and 100Base-TX and 1000Base-T Ethernet interfaces. Thus, communications at 10, 100, and 1000 Mbits/s are possible with auto-negotiation capabilities. The NI cRIO-9081 has two serial ports; one is a standard RS-232 Serial Port and the other one is a RS-485/422 (DTE) type Serial Port. With the RS-232 Serial Port included in the NI cRIO 9081, up to 115,200 bps maximum baud rate is possible. However, up to 230,400 bps can be achieved with the RS-485/422 serial port.F

Another channel of communication available on this module is a 2.5 Gbps MXI-Express Port. With this port, up to 7 m cabling distance is possible. Moreover, the cRIO-9081 has four USB ports as well. These USB ports are standard USB 2.0 type Hi-Speed ports and up to 480 Mb data transfer rate (max) can be achieved per port.
