National Instruments PCI-6509 Digital I/O Device

The National Instruments PCI-6509 (Part Number: 778792-01, 778936-01, 189700E-01L, 189700C-01) Digital I/O Device can straightforwardly drive external digital gadgets, such as Solid-State Relays (SSR). Part number 778936-01 is for the bundle kit version PCI-6509. The user can arrange each port for input or output and no outside power supply is required for the outputs. By utilizing programmable power states, the user can arrange the initial output states in the software to guarantee safe, rebound-free operations when associated with industrial actuators. If a PC or application failure happens, the NI PCI-6509 can utilize advanced I/O watchdogs (guardians) to go to a configurable and secure output state to guarantee safe detection and recuperation from fault conditions. Programmable input filters eliminate rebounds/spikes and provide stability for digital relays/switches through a digital filter selectable by software. The NI device is equipped with a 100-pin female 0.050 series SCSI I/O connector. 

Additionally, the user can program the DIO lines on the PCI-6509 to power up at a predefined state: input, high output, or low output. Programmable power-up states guarantee that the NI PCI-6509 powers up in a known state. The user can also program the PCI-6509 to send an interruption when a change happens on any input line. The NI PCI-6509 device can monitor changes on selected input lines or on all input lines. It can monitor for rising edges (0 to 1), falling edges (1 to 0), or both.

When an input change happens, the PCI-6509 DIO creates an interruption and alerts the software. After a modification, the NI PCI-6509 does not recount which line was altered or whether the line was rising or falling. After an alteration, the user can view the input lines to decide the present line states. The rate of change detection is decided by the software reaction time, which changes from framework to framework. The PCI-6509 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which can be programmed using application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI. 

PCI-6509 Mature Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
