National Instruments PXI-6513 PXI Digital I/O Module

Featured with eight banks of optically isolated channels and sink outputs, the National Instruments PXI-6513 (Part Number: 778971-01) is a ±30 VDC, Bank-Isolated, 64-Channel, industrial grade, PXI Digital I/O Module. This model is considered a low-cost solution for manufacturing test and industrial control applications. For better productivity and the highest performance, the NI PXI 6513 is designed to support NI-DAQmx software technology.

To provide access to the digital inputs and outputs, this model comes equipped with a 100-pin, high-density SCSI connector. Users can utilize the NI R1005050 ribbon cable with the CB-50LP or the CB-50 connector block or SH100-100-F shielded cable can also be used with the SCB-100 connector block for easy connection to the digital I/O connector. The outputs on the NI PXI-6513 module are isolated photocouplers with Darlington relays. At power-on and power-off, these Darlington relays switch off. The National Instruments PXI-6513 offers 64 unidirectional digital output lines for sinking current. It has an output voltage range of 0 V to 30 V, and digital I/O logic levels of 24 V. This module also supports programmable input filtering for the elimination of noise and spikes on input.

The NI PXI-6513 is fully compliant with the PXI Hardware Specification Rev 2.1 and automatically allocates all device resources, including the interrupt level and base address. Thus, it is not binding for the user to perform configuration steps after the system initiates. The isolation feature on this module is type of built-in signal conditioning that offers various advantages, such as direct connection to industrial sensors and an extended voltage range. In addition, the isolation provides signal quality and protects the user’s computer circuitry.

The PXI-6513 is run using the NI-DAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio.

The NI device weighs 4.8 oz, and measures 8.38 x 5.12 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 °C to 70 °C, and an operating and non-operating random vibration of 0.3 grms and 2.4 grms respectively–all at a frequency range of 5 to 500 Hz.
