National Instruments 779687-01 PXI Sound and Vibration Module

National Instruments 779687-01 is the part number for the PXI-4461 Sound and Vibration Module that is Hybrid Slot Compatible. Also referred to as PXI Express-ready, this flexible compatibility type allows the module to connect with either a CompactPCI or a PXI Express Hybrid slot. Equipped with versatile analog input capabilities, the 779687-01 allows the user to choose between differential or pseudodifferential configurations for either of the channels. Between the negative input and the chassis ground, these channels have an impedance of 50 Ω. 

The input coupling for each channel of the 779687-01 can be independently selected as either AC or DC, while the output coupling is configured for DC only. The module is protected from short circuiting through indefinite protection between the positive and negative terminals. The power requirement for the module depends upon the voltage used; with 990 mA at +5 V, 1,430 mA at +3.3 V, 170 mA at +12 V, and 110 mA at -12 V. The ADC of the 779687-01 boasts a resolution of 24 bits, and it operates on a delta-sigma architecture.

The 779687-01 offers sample rates that range from 1 kS/s to 204.8 kS/s in increments of 181.9 μS/s. The FIFO buffer size is set at 2,047 samples, and data transfers are facilitated through direct memory access (DMA).  In addition, the module utilizes an internal timebase that has an accuracy of ±20 ppm over the operating temperature range of 0 to 55 °C (32 °F to 131 °F). The 779687-01 measures 16 cm × 10 cm (6.3 in. × 3.9 in.) and weighs 241 g (8.5 oz).
