National Instruments PCI-4552 Dynamic Signal Acquisition Device

The NI PCI-4552 device has 4 Analog Inputs, 16 bits input resolution, 204.8 kS/s sampling rate, ±10 mV to ±42.4 V input range, differential/single ended input configuration, 8 Digital I/O, and analog/digital triggering. The PCI 4552 Dynamic Signal Acquisition by NI is a highly performing, extremely precise analog I/O instrument designed for the PCI bus. This model can perform DIO functions, external trigger functions, and counter/timer functions.

The National Instruments PCI-4552 device utilizes differential (DIFF) inputs. The user can configure the input as a referenced single-ended (SE) channel with the use of the BNC-2140 DSA accessory. While the PCI-4552 is in the DIFF mode, a single line links to the positive input of the channel, while the other links to the negative input of the channel. The user can link the differential input to SE or DIFF signals, with options for ground-referenced or floating. Although, it is important to note that grounding the negative input from floating sources can enhance the measurement quality by eradicating the common-mode noise.

On the NI PCI-4552 Dynamic Signal Acquisition Device, the user can configure the trigger circuit to monitor one of the analog input channels to produce the level trigger. However, selecting an input channel as the level trigger channel does not influence the capabilities of the input channel.

The trigger-level range is the same as the analog input voltage range. In addition, the trigger-level resolution is identical to the accuracy for a selected input range on the PCI-4552.

The PCI-4552 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which can be programmed using software packages or application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Microsoft Visual C++, or Borland C++. The device software can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool. The NI device measures 4.19 x 12.28 x 0.73 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to +40 °C, a storage temperature range of −25 °C to +85 °C, and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10% to 95%.

PCI-4552 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
