National Instruments PXIe-4496 PXI Sound and Vibration Module

The NI PXIe-4496 (Part Numbers: 780217-01 and 780217-02) is created for sound and vibration applications. This module has sixteen 24-bit analog inputs and IEPE constant current signal conditioning, making it well-suited for completing precision measurements with microphones, accelerometers, and other types of transducers with wide dynamic ranges. The PXIe-4496 can be used with the NI Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite software to bring many types of time and frequency measurements such as octave and order analysis to the user’s application.

The National Instruments PXIe-4496 Sound and Vibration Module has 2 gain settings to +20 dB for input ranges from ±1 V to 10 V. This module has the capability to synchronize as many as 272 channels at maximum bandwidth in one 18-slot PXI Express chassis. In addition, since the PXIe-4496 module is programmed with NI-DAQmx which has a DAQmx Channel Expansion function, then data acquisition code is the same for any number of channels. The NI PXIe-4496 has two times the density of other similar simultaneously sampled models by National Instruments.

The PXIe-4496 module has two 4X InfiniBand connectors, AI0-7 and AI8-15. Each of these connectors carry eight input channels. The 4X InfiniBand is popular in high-performance computing applications since it offers great signal integrity and has a shield plate between input signal pairs. These include a shielded breakout cable with eight BNC connectors, a 19 inch rack-mountable adapter with32 BNC connectors, and more.
