National Instruments FP-1001 Network Module for FieldPoint

Any RS-485 connector card can be associated with the FP-1001 FieldPoint (Part Number: 777517-01) arranged and introduced in a host PC, or to the RS-485 repeater port of a FP-1000. Since RS-485 is characteristically a multidrop arrangement, the FP-1001 does not give a different RS-485 repeater. The user can arrange different FP-1001 modules in multidrop mode. The NI FP-1001 conveys over RS-485, using full-duplex mode. It is optically secluded, which forestalls coupling between the RS-485 system and the FP-1001. An elective technique is to associate the FP-1001 straightforwardly to the host PC if the host PC gives a RS-485 interface. The user can interface a maximum of 25 FP-1001 Network Modules to every RS-485 port on the host PC.

In this model, the switches 1 to 5 can set the module’s address. The addresses of the terminal bases in a FieldPoint bank are consequently designed by the module to be consecutively higher than the system module's location. For instance, if the module is set to address 20, the I/O module in the terminal base neighboring the module is at location 21, the following I/O module is at location 22, etc. Also, a 11– 30 VDC control supply is required by each FieldPoint module. The Network Module channels and manages this provided power and gives capacity to all the I/O modules in the bank. Accordingly, the user cannot give control independently to each FieldPoint I/O module in the bank. Also, the user can utilize the terminals available on every terminal base to make power associations if the field I/O gadgets needs to be fueled independently.

The FP-1001 can be programmed using the FieldPoint software which includes the components: LabVIEW VIs, LabWindows/CVI functions, FieldPoint Explorer Configuration Utility, Lookout Driver Class, and the OPC server. The device has the baud rates: 300, 1200, 2400, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 115200 (switch-settable). It has a cabling distance of 4000 ft from the host.  The NI device weighs 8.4 oz. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of –40 to +70 °C and –55 to +90 °C respectively.

FP-1001 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
