National Instruments FP-AI-100 Analog Input Module

The NI FP-AI-100 (Part Number: 777518-100) is an 8-Channel, 12-Bit Analog Input Module. This model is a FieldPoint network module, which offers up to 11 voltage ranges, a hot swapping capability, and eight current or voltage input channels. The NI FP-AI-100 is designed to mount on the FP-TB-x (FieldPoint terminal base) from where it draws the required operating power. Since it is a hot swappable enabled module, the FP-AI-100 can easily be installed or removed from a powered terminal base since it will not disrupt the operation of the FieldPoint bank.

This module comes equipped with a successive approximation type of ADC and offers up to 2.8 ms (360 Hz) update rate on all of its channels. As far as its input characteristics are concerned, the FP-AI-100 offers 11.3 bits effective resolution, 1.5 MΩ input impedance, and can handle up to 170 Hz signal input bandwidth. This module weighs around 145 grams and consumes approximately 400 mW of power. The National Instruments FP-AI-100 comes with two green status LEDs. One of these LEDs indicates READY and POWER status. Besides this, one red status LED is provided that informs the user when any input signal goes beyond the configured range.

All eight channels on this module operate with single ground reference. The common ground reference remains isolated from other modules installed in the entire FieldPoint system. The over-ranging feature of this module allows users to measure a little more than the nominal values defined for each range. Therefore, the over-ranging feature of the NI FP-AI-100 will enable users to compensate for up to 20% span errors of field devices.
