National Instruments FP-AI-111 Analog Input Module

Featured with 3 input ranges, 16-bit resolution, and 16 analog current input channels (single-ended), the NI FP-AI-111 is a milliamp Analog Input Module. The device has an update rate of 3 Hz to 0.83 Hz for all 16 channels. The addition of this module on an already live and operating FieldPoint terminal base does not affect the operation of the bank because the National Instruments FP-AI-111 is hot swappable. The same terminal base provides the module with the required operating power as well. For firm installation, special latch hooks are provided, which keep the module firmly seated.

Each of the channels available on this module has its own input terminal for current input. Users who want to operate an external power supply for devices located in the field can connect the power supply to the C and V terminals of the connector block or the terminal base. Integrated overcurrent protection up to ±30 mA is also provided for the current input channels. With the provision of selectable input ranges, users can choose an appropriate input range to ensure the signal they are measuring does not go beyond either end of the selected range.

This module will help prevent inaccurate readings. The NI FP-AI-111 module comes with delta-sigma type ADCs. These ADCs offer up to 16 bits or 12 bits resolution, while operating at 50/60 Hz and 500 Hz respectively. This module is tested to withstand transient voltages of up to 2300 Vrms. It has a power requirement of 350 mW, an input impedance of 100 Ω, an input noise of 0.3 µA. Two LEDs are also provided to keep the user informed about the readiness and power status of the module.

The NI FP-AI-111 weighs 4.8 oz, and measures 4.3 x 4.3 x 3.6 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of –40 °C to 70 °C and –55 °C to 85 °C respectively, a non-condensing humidity range of 10 to 90% RH, random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.
