National Instruments FP-PWM-520 Pulse-Width Modulation Output Module

The NI FP-PWM-520 (Part Number: 777518-520) is a FieldPoint Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) Output Module equipped with eight pulse-width modulation sourcing output channels. This module offers an independent output period configuration for each channel from 1 millisecond to 65535 milliseconds in 1-millisecond increments. With a user-provided power supply, output sources of 5 VDC or 10-30 VDC can be acquired from this module.

The NI FP-PWM-520 is designed to be mounted on the FP-TB-x (FieldPoint terminal base). The entire process of installation and uninstallation of this module is quick and straightforward since it can be added or removed from a live system. The output channels of this module operate in complete optical isolation from the remaining FieldPoint bank. For additional safety, the output channels are offered with special short-circuit protection gear. Resetting a tripped channel does not require physical interruption since it can be done through FieldPoint software.

During the ON state, a transistor is used to complete the circuit between V_sup and V_out. This transistor remains off during the OFF state, allowing only a minimum amount of leakage current to flow. With Pulse-Width Modulation Output Module, the user can set the duty cycle for each of the output channels independently. The user can set any channel to operate at a duty cycle for 0 % to 100 %. Each output of the NI FP-PWM-520 can drive up to 1 A. This module has 8 PWM output terminals (or digital output terminals), 16 common terminals (COM), and 8 power supply terminals (Vsup).
