National Instruments FP-RTD-122 RTD and Resistance Input Module
The NI FP-RTD-122 (Part Number: 777518-122) is a versatile RTD and Resistance Input Module for FieldPoint. This device can be used to measure 3-wire RTDs in a broad range of applications, such as process control, device testing, and temperature chamber control. For sensor excitation, the FP-RTD-122 utilizes a stable current source. Moreover, it comes with an integrated microcontroller that scales the measurements to specified temperature units. With this module, the user will be able to configure each channel to get scaled data in temperature units (°C, °F, or °K) or resistance.
This RTD and Resistance Input Module comes in a 3-wire configuration. This advanced configuration helps eliminate lead wire resistance related measurement errors. The National Instruments FP-RTD-122 features optical bank isolation. As far as its input characteristics are concerned, this model comes equipped with a Delta-sigma ADC, 50/60 Hz rejection filters, and has eight inputs. This RTD and Resistance Input Module can handle inputs for 100 and 1,000 Ω platinum resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) and can be used for direct measurement of resistance in 400 Ω and 4000 Ω ranges.
Each of the eight channels of the NI FP-RTD-122 uses an EX+ terminal to pulse out a 0.25 mA excitation current. The pulsed excitation current returns employing the COM terminal. The SENSE terminal gauges do not only gauge resistance but compensate for lead resistance related measurements errors also. This module has two green POWER and READY LEDs. AS the user inserts the module into a FieldPoint terminal base, the POWER LED turns on and communicates to the network module about the module’s presence.
