National Instruments PXIe-7961 PXI FPGA Module for FlexRIO

The National Instruments PXIe-7961 (Part Number: 781205-01) is a Virtex-5 SX50T PXI FPGA Module for FlexRIO. This module offers customizable, flexible I/O for LabVIEW FPGA and contains 132 single-ended I/O lines. Users can have these I/O lines configured as 66 differential pairs according to their requirements. The NI PXIe 7961 can be paired with high-performance digital and analog I/O FlexRIO adapter modules. A combination of these two modules can bring the user a reconfigurable module that can easily be programmed through LabVIEW FPGA software.

To transfer data among multiple FPGA modules directly, the PXIe-7961 offers peer to peer streaming- a feature that can be used for the direct routing of data without involving the host processor. In fact, this feature also allows users to add specific FPGA functionalities to high-performance digitizers from National Instruments with NIST traceable calibration. The National Instruments PXIe-7961 comes equipped with 2 banks of onboard RAM with each bank having 256 MB. This module is fully compliant to PXI Express, specification v1.0. Thus, it can be used in any x4, x8, x16 PXI Express, and PXI Express Hybrid slot.

The NI PXIe-7961 comes equipped with a high-density card edge I/O connector. As far as its physical characteristics are concerned, this module has 16.1 cm × 10.8 cm dimensions (without connectors) and weighs around 213 g. While operating at +3.3 VDC (±5%), this module requires 3 A of current. The FPGA incorporated in the PXIe-7961 has four banks of channels with Bank 0 and Bank 2 containing 32 single-ended channels per bank and Bank 1/Bank 3 containing 34 single-ended channels per bank.
