National Instruments GPIB-USB-HS GPIB Instrument Control Device
Featured with standard USB and GPIB connectors, the NI GPIB-USB-HS (Part Numbers: 778927-01, 779704-01, 780570-01, 779705-01, 187965-01) is a portable IEEE 488.2 compatible device for USB enabled machines (computers, laptops, etc.). This device offers data transfer rates up to 1830 Kbytes/s and up to 7230 Kbytes/s while operating in 3-wire and HS488 mode respectively. This device is not powered from an external source, since it receives power from the +5 V (VBUS) and consumes 140 mA in typical conditions. It has a power requirement of 500 mA.
The NI GPIB-USB-HS device comes with two LEDs to indicate activity and status. When plugged into a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port, the READY light glows amber. However, the green color is used to show that the device is plugged into a full-speed USB 1.1 port. The other LED is used to indicate GPIB bus activity. This GPIB device is offered with the National Instruments NI-488.2 driver. Thus, users have access to the capabilities of a powerful driver with additional wizards and utilities that assist with troubleshooting programs and decreasing development time. Then, connect a USB cable to any functional USB port on a laptop or computer. With this IEEE 488 Controller, the user can connect multiple instruments in a star or daisy chain configuration as well. The device is equipped with an IEEE 488 24-pin connector and a USB standard type A plug connector.
The NI device weighs 6.3 oz, and measures 4.2 x 2.6 x 1.0 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 °C to 55 °C and -20 °C to 70 °C respectively
