National Instruments PCI-8215 Single-Board GPIB Talker/Listener

The PCI-8215 is a single-board GBIP Talker/Listener. The manufacturer of the NI PCI-8215 is National Instruments. The PCI-8215 is available under part number 778632-01. The NI PCI-8215 runs on two types of software NI-Device Plus (Part Number: 778489-02) and NI-Device Plus DDK (Part Number: 778542-02). The PCI-8215 combines a GBIP talker and listener with a high-speed data connection for USB 2.0 devices. The NI PCI-8215 can be used with Windows 2000/NT/XP/Ne/98 OS.

A TNT5002 GPIB talker/listener ASIC is featured in the PCI-8215, which can transfer up to 7.7 MB/s. A unique feature of the NI PCI-8215 is the NetChip NET2280 USB device ASIC, which is capable of transfer rates up to 30 MB/s utilizing the high-speed data transfer USB 2.0 port. This GBIP Talker/Listener is not meant to be used as a GPIB controller with the NI-488.2 driver software.

The National Instruments PCI-8215 Single-board GPIB Talker/Listener is designed to be used with NI-Device software by I/O connectivity solutions developed by instrument manufacturers for their specific instruments. The NI PCI-8215 has USB transfer rates of 30.0 MB/s for high-speed and 1.0 MB/s for full-speed. The PCI-8215 uses three types of connectors, including a GPIB IEEE 488.1 24-pin connector, a USB Type B receptacle connector, and a PCI 32-bit, universal signaling connector. The universal PCI connector on this GPIB Talker/Listener is designed to function in 5 V and 3.3 V PCI slots.

PCI-8215 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the GPIB Talker/Listener will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
