National Instruments PCI-6289 Multifunction DAQ

The National Instruments PCI-6289 (Part number: 779111-01) is a rapid M Series Multifunction Data Acquisition Module. This device has 32 single-ended analog input channels with each channel having a sample rate of 625 kS per second maximum, with an input FIFO size of 2,047 samples. There are also 16 differential analog input channels with each channel having an operating speed of up to 500 kS/s. The NI PCI-6289 has the functional analog to digital 18-bit resolution. The timing precision of the sample rate is around 50 ppm. There is a DC coupling system in analog inputs. The timing resolution is 50 nanoseconds. The variable input voltage range is from ±0.1 V to ±10 V. The input impedance is > 10 GΩ. The NI PCI 6289 is capable of handling input current up to ±100 pA.

The National Instruments PCI 6289 consists of 4 analog output channels. The range of the sampling rate is 1.25 MS/s up to 2.86 MS/s for these channels. The timing precision and timing resolution are the same as the analog input channels. These channels can operate at a digital to analog converting resolution of 16-bits. The PCI 6289 has 48 digital I/O lines, and 2 counter/timer I/O lines with a 32-bit resolution and a frequency of 80 MHz. It has 1 frequency generator with base clocks of 10 MHz and 100 kHz, and a base clock accuracy of 50 ppm. The device is equipped with 2 68-pin VHDCI I/O connectors.

The output analog channels have the capacity to drive the current to ±5 mA. They are eligible to provide protection against overvoltage and overcurrent. The overvoltage range protection is ±25 V, while the overcurrent protection is 20 mA.  The maximum output voltage level is similar to the maximum input voltage level; this figure is about ±11 V. The National Instruments PCI-6289 is capable of transferring data through USB and analog output waveforms. In analog output waveform mode, these waves could be periodic or non-periodic. It transfers data through the signal stream system while using USB. The device weighs 0.37 lbs., and measures 4.2 x 6.1 in. in physical dimensions.
