National Instruments PXI-6229 Multifunction I/O Module

The PXI-6229 (Part Numbers: 779630-01 and 779115-01) Multifunction I/O Module from the M Series by National Instruments can be used in various types of industry applications, including, but not limited to, research, automation, and design confirmation. Numerous common measurement standards will be met with this module. The National Instruments PXI-6229 module works as part of a DAQ system, which typically consists of: transducers, sensors, cables that link the devices to the accessories, signal conditioning devices, programming software, a PC, and the module itself. The DAQ hardware digitizes signals, completes D/A changes to produce analog output signals, and measures and controls digital I/O signals.

The PXI-6229 Multifunction I/O Module has the following specifications at 25 degrees Celsius: 16 differential or 32 single ended analog input channels, four analog output channels, 48 total digital I/O/PFI channels, two counters/timers, 16 bits resolution, and 250 kS/s maximum sample rate. Part number 779630-01 is a hybrid controller. Another important fact to note is that this module needs to be calibrated every year in order to retain the specifications mentioned previously. In addition, the pinout of the NI PXI-6229 contains two 68-pin connectors, upon which the I/O signals appear. Accessories such as a screw terminal block, BNC terminal block, SCC, and others are available for the PXI-6229’s 68-pin connectors.

As a member of the M Series, the PXI-6229 module utilizes SCC, a front-end signal conditioning system.
