National Instruments ISM-7411 Integrated Stepper Drive and Motor Device

The National Instruments ISM-7411 (Part Numbers: 783599-01 and 783600-01) is an Integrated Stepper Drive and Motor Device. This device features NEMA 23 frame size for drive control and stepper motor. The NI ISM-7411 has microstep emulation, torque ripple smoothing, and anti-resonance functions. One version of this device can be acquired with an encoder (Part Number: 783600-01).

This Integrated Stepper Drive and Motor Device supports Ethernet connectivity. Thus, you can add your device to your local-area-network to control it through the LabVIEW SoftMotion Module. For integration with existing control systems, the NI ISM-7411 can also be used with traditional directional and step signals. This device requires a 12 to 70 VDC, external power supply to operate. National Instruments recommends the PS-12 and PS-13 power supplies to be used with this drive. 

For IP configuration, the NI ISM-7411 comes equipped with a 16-position rotary switch. Each position is pre-assigned with an IP address. However, you can let the device acquire a system allocated IP address automatically from your network’s DHCP server by turning the IP address rotary switch to position “F.” This device comes equipped with a dual, 4 quadrant H-Bridge amplifier that supports 4 state PWM current control at 20 kHz. 

The NI ISM-7411 Integrated Stepper Drive and Motor Device has various built-in protections, including over-temperature, undervoltage, overvoltage, and overcurrent protection. At around 85 °C temperature, this device initiates an over-temperature shutdown automatically. All these safety features make this device a viable solution for a variety of applications.

ISM-7411 Mature Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the motor device will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
