National Instruments VXI-PCI8340 MXI-3 VXIbus Interface Kit for PCI

Featured with VXI Plug&Play compliance, the NI VXI-PCI8340 (Part Number: 778300-01) is an MXI-3 VXIbus Interface Kit for PCI. This kit is developed on MXI-3 technology and considered a robust solution for controlling any VXI system through a PCI-enabled computer. The VXI-PCI8340 features Slot 0 capability and can assume the role of the system resource manager. With this interface kit, you can connect the PCI bus of your external computer to an independently operating VXIbus.

The VXI-PCI8340 is offered with copper cabling. A fiber-optic variant of this interface kit is also available. Extended link distance (up to 200 m) is the biggest benefit of choosing the fiber-optic version because only links up to 10 meters are possible with copper cabling. However, you can extend the PCI bus of your ordinary desktop computer into Slot 0 of your VXI chassis by using this specially designed VXIbus interface kit. 

The NI VXI-PCI8340 is a combination of several components including: a PCI MXI-3 interface card, a VXI Slot 0 module, and an MXI-3 (flexible) cable. This kit is designed to fully comply with all requirements defined in the VXI Plug&Play standards and offered with comprehensive software tools to deal with debugging and troubleshooting issues. This interface kit allows you to work easily in a multi-chassis environment, since the interface software is designed to deal with each chassis as a separate VXI system. Thus, you are not forced to deal with complex logical address assignment issues that are generally faced.

VXI-PCI8340 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the MXI-3 VXIbus Interface Kit will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
