National Instruments PXI-PCI8366 Remote Controller

The NI PXI-PCI8366 (Part Number: 781396-01) allows the user the capability to control PXI and CompactPCI systems from a PC via a PCI slot with a transparent MXI-Express link attached with fiber-optic cabling. This model is comprised of the PCI-8366 board linked with a fiber-optic cable to the PXI-8366 module inserted into slot 1 of a PXI chassis. This combination of products results in 95 MB/s maximum sustained throughput to the PXI or CompactPCI system. In addition, the link performance is 132 MB/s maximum peak.

The link on the National Instruments PXI-PCI8366 Remote Controller is transparent to software applications and drivers, which enables industry-standard desktop computers and servers to control PXI systems without further programming. The fiber-optic cabling of this Remote Controller offers electrical isolation between the PC and PXI chassis, along with cabling to 200 meters maximum for each link.

This model has LEDs on the front panel, which indicate the status of the PXI-PCI8366. When the LEDs are off, the model is powered off. When the LEDs are blinking red, it indicates that the power is out of the specifications. When the LEDs are solid amber, it means that the power is within the specifications and is not linked to a chassis. Lastly, when the LEDs are solid green, it means that the power is within the specifications and a link is established to the chassis.

The NI PXI PCI8366 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
