National Instruments PXI-PCIe8362 MXI-Express Kit

The National Instruments PXI-PCIe8362 (Part Number: 779503-03) is a kit that allows the user to control CompactPCI and PXI systems from their PCI Express-equipped and enabled desktop computers or server PCs. This kit utilizes a high-bandwidth, completely transparent, cable-based MXI-Express link comprising of a PCI Express board (available on the host machine) connected through an MXI-Express cable to a PXI module installed in slot 1 of any compatible PXI chassis. This kit comes equipped with the PCI Express board that has 2 x 1 PCI Express links. This model is superior to its predecessor model, the NI PXI-PCIe8361, where a single PCI Express link is provided. With this model, the user can utilize both links to separate PXI chassis. Thus, a net of 160 MB/s stable throughput can be achieved.

This model comes with an integrated PXI-8360 module, which incorporates a PCI Express-to-PCI bridge. By utilizing the MXI-Express link, the user can access PXI modules as if they are PCI boards, installed directly on the user’s PC. The NI PXI-PCIe8362 MXI-Express Kit allows up to 7 m cable length with screw-in connectors. This kit requires one compatible slot and is fully compatible with Microsoft Windows. In its standard configuration, the NI PXI-PCIe8362 will bring one PCI Express Board (NI PCIe-8362), one PXI Module (PXI-8360), and one 3 m cable. This system allows the user transparent controlling of a PXI system as within the host machine (PC, Server, etc.), where each of the PXI modules will appear as an independent PCI board.
