National Instruments PXIe-PCIe8371 MXI-Express x4 for PXI Express/CompactPCI Express Kit

The NI PXIe-PCIe8371 (Part Number: 779721-03) is designed for PC users with x4 or higher PCI Express slots. This kit allows users to control PXI Express systems with cabled PCI Express technology. This MXI-Express x4 Kit contains a PCIe-8371 board in a PC linked with a x4 MXI-Express cable to a PXIe-8370 module in a PXI Express chassis. The PCIe-8371 board delivers a single PCI Express link, which has a x4 lane width. The PXIe-8370 module links the PCI Express link to the PCI Express bus utilized in the PXI Express chassis backplane, making all PXI and PXI Express modules show up as PCI boards inside the computer.

Several PCIe-8371 boards can be utilized in a PC with several x4 or higher PCI Express slots to add PXI Express chassis to a system. The PXIe-8370 module does not have a daisy chain capability. However, if the user wishes to daisy chain multiple PXI Express chassis, they can use a PXI-8331 or PXI-8336 module inserted into a PXI peripheral slot of the master PXI Express chassis. Then, the user can link the module with the correct cable to another PXI-8331 or PXI-8336 in slot 1 of the slave PXI chassis.

The PXIe-PCIe 8371 MXI-Express x4 Kit can be used with a 7 meter cable length at the most, with latch-in connectors. This kit has 798 MB/s sustained throughput and a cabled PCI Express link that does not need to be programmed.
