National Instruments NB-GPIB-P/TNT IEEE 488 Interface Board

The NB-GPIB-P/TNT is an electronic board designed for IEEE-488 interfaces. The NB-GPIB-P/TNT is introduced by National Instruments. The NI NB-GPIB-P/TNT belongs to the NB Series boards. The NB-GPIB-P/TNT is similar to the NB-GPIB/TNT, but the NB-GPIB-P/TNT does not have DMA capability and is a slightly smaller board. This IEEE 488 Interface Board is a reduced-size board that fits in the 7 in. NuBus slot in Mac computers, such as the Centris 610. Both IEEE 488 Interfaces are software-compatible with all variations of NB-GPIB hardware. The driver software of the NI NB-GPIB-P/TNT is NI-488.2 for MacOS. NI-488.2 software changes the Mac into a GPIB Controller with full communications and bus management capability.

The NI NB-GPIB-P/TNT board is constructed for use with Macintosh NuBus computers. The NB-GPIB-P/TNT is built with a TNT4882C chip that performs fundamental IEEE 488 Controller, Talker, and Listener functions. This IEEE 488 Interface Board supports 1.3 MB/s data transfer rates while utilizing three-wire handshake. The National Instruments NB-GPIB-P/TNT can execute the HS-488 high-speed GPIB protocol, which enables transfer rates up to 2.3 MB/s. However, these transfer rates are based on the system configuration and device capabilities.

The NI NB-GPIB-P/TNT can be used with as many as 14 devices. If additional devices are required in the system, then a National Instruments GPIB extender or GPIB expander/isolator can be utilized. The NB-GPIB-P/TNT IEEE 488 Interface Board has 1 GPIB load and a power requirement of +5 VDC, 350 mA maximum. This interface is FCC Class A verified. The I/O connector is an IEEE 488 standard 24-pin connector.
