National Instruments PXI-7330 Stepper Motor Controller

The NI PXI-7330 (Part Numbers: 779035-02 and 778444-01) Stepper Motor Controller utilizes the NI-Motion driver. The benefit of this is if the user’s application needs changes later, they can undoubtedly update their equipment without changing the code. Part number 779035-02 has 2 Axes, while part number 778444-01 has 4 Axes. The user can also exploit any firmware refreshes with the field-upgradable firmware. Like other NI Motion controllers, the NI PXI-7330 controller offers intense capacities with its two data protection and machine vision functions. This model is a standout amongst the most effective, offering an RTSI bus or PXI trigger that the user can utilize straightforwardly without additional wiring and without bandwidth on the host bus. A NI PXI-7330 is perfect when utilizing stepper engines for applications where just basic movement is required.

Multi-stepping is incorporated in this model like dynamic smoothing. This is similar to dynamic smoothing, with the exception of being a significantly more aggressive utilization of the channel. Ordinarily, it results in a filter that starts to roll off two octaves underneath the resounding frequency. This is expected for use with coarse resolution (full/half-step input pulses) to smooth large steps into a continuous train of micro-steps and may give smoother movement, relying upon the motion application. The user can disable multi-stepping if they are not utilizing full or half digital resolution. The PXI-7330 has a maximum update rate of 62.5 µs per axis, 4 trigger inputs, and a voltage range of 0 to 5 V. It is equipped with 2 68-pin female high-density VHDCI I/O connectors. The PXI-7330 can be programmed using software packages such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Microsoft Visual Basic.

Dissimilar to other low-cost motion controllers, the PXI-7330 controller has an assortment of effective highlights including:

• Linear interpolation for coordinating multiple axes.

• Real-time framework integration for directly communicating with data acquisition or image acquisition boards

• High-execution stepper generation for guaranteeing smooth-motion at high speeds

• Up to 4 axes of stepper motion

The NI device weighs 6 oz, and measures 6.3 x 3.9 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 55 °C, and a storage temperature range of –20 to 70 °C.
