National Instruments PC-DIO-24 Digital I/O Interface Board

The PC-DIO-24 is an affordable, 24-bit, parallel Digital I/O Interface Board used for ISA computers. The PC-DIO-24 is manufactured by National Instruments and is available with the part number 777368-01. This board is compatible with TTL as well as with CMOS. The connection of the 24 channels of the digital inputs and outputs is achieved by the 24-bit PPI chips. These 24-bit PPIs control the NI PC-DIO-24 board.

The National Instruments PC-DIO-24 works as a plug-and-play board that does not require any external card manager for the configuration process. This feature in the NI PC-DIO-24 provides easy connections with several operating systems, which require multiple platforms for developing different applications, such as DAC (Digital-to-Analog converter), ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter), or keyboards, etc. The main advantage of the PC-DIO-24 is that it can be used with any microprocessor with some programming. The mode of operation on this Digital I/O Board is not only uni-directional, but bi-directional also. The input and output communication process is accomplished via a standard 50-pin male ribbon-cable connector, which is compatible with 24 channels working on different I/O applications.

The maximum transfer rate that the NI PC-DIO-24 can provide is up to 50 Kbytes/s when used with NI-DAQ software. This board provides 1-10 Kbytes/s typical constant transfer rate. The PC-DIO-24 works in an environment with a relative humidity of 5% to 90% noncondensing. The maximum voltage rating is -0.5 to +5.5 V with respect to GND. The pin number 49 gives the output signal at 4.65 to 5.25 VDC with 1 A maximum current.
