National Instruments PCMCIA-232/4 Serial Interface Device

The National Instruments PCMCIA-232/4 (Part Number: 777379-04) is the 4-port version of the PCMCIA-232 Serial Interface Device. This device is fully compatible with all notebook and desktop computers that contain a standard PCMCIA port. The NI PCMCIA-232/4 is designed to provide you with a means of communication for instruments and devices with serial ports. This Serial Interface Device is a Windows-based device which can easily be deployed and ejected without a requirement of shutting down the host machine.  

The NI PCMCIA-232/4 is designed according to the standards defined for RS232 serial devices. Since it is a hot-swappable card, the NI PCMCIA-232/4 can easily be installed and removed from an already serving control or monitoring system. Moreover, this device enables technicians to communicate with an extensive range of devices installed in the field. The NI PCMCIA-232/4 is offered with a comprehensive, Windows-based driver and you can have it configured or programmed through various types of application software.

With the PCMCIA-232/4 device, you can change FIFO buffer settings according to your requirements. There are two 16 B FIFO buffers incorporated in this device: one for the transmitter and the other one for the receiver. If you are not willing to operate your device with FIFO buffers, then you can disable these buffers through the driver. This Serial Interface Device also allows you to make any necessary adjustments in the resource settings. The resource configuration dialog box allows you to change the base I/O address and the IRQ. This Serial Interface Device can be used with a cable that has a DSUB-9 connector.
