National Instruments PCMCIA-CAN CAN Interface Device

The PCMCIA-CAN is a Controller Area Network (CAN) Interface Device. The PCMCIA-CAN is a product by National Instruments. The NI PCMCIA-CAN is manufactured with the part number 777499-01. This CAN Interface Device is constructed with a TJA1041 transceiver and can be utilized with the NI-CAN driver software. The PCMCIA-CAN can also be utilized with the bus monitor utility application software. The NI PCMCIA-CAN is compatible with other application tools, such as LabVIEW, Visual Basic 6, C/C++, and LabWindows. This CAN Interface Device can be operated on several operating systems, including Windows 2000/NT/XP/Me/98 and LabVIEW Real-Time.

The NI PCMCIA-CAN is a high-speed CAN Device for computers with PCMCIA bus slots. The PCMCIA-CAN is built with only one port to configure network devices. The PCMCIA-CAN provides a maximum transfer rate of 1000 kb/s. This device is useful for multiple control applications since it can be used with notebooks, laptops, and industrial PCs.

This CAN Interface Device is fabricated with a physical layer inside the cable. This cable is powered internally or externally. The internal power involves an onboard DC converter from the host computer, while the external power indicates a voltage regulator from the CAN bus. The NI PCMCIA-CAN device cables are manufactured with a 9-pin male D-Sub connector. The PCMCIA-CAN cables also contain a Combicon-style removable screw terminal connector to interface for each port.        

PCMCIA-CAN Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the device will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
