National Instruments 780690-01 PXI Embedded Controller

National Instruments 780690-01 is the part number for the PXI-8110 Embedded Controller with an OS of Windows XP For Embedded Systems (FES). This version of Windows XP is designed specifically for specialized hardware applications and embedded devices such as the 780690-01. 

The controller boasts a robust Q9100 2.26 GHz quad-core CPU, as well as a front side bus of 1066 MHz. The 12 MBs of the on-die L2 cache divides the memory across the four cors The 12 MB of memory in the L2 on-die cache of the 780690-01 is divided across the four cores of the CPU by pairing the cores and allotting 6 MB of memory to each pair.  It is compatible with a DDR2 RAM (single-channel), which has a typical configuration of 2 GB.

The front panel of the 780690-01 features two LEDs- POWER OK and DRIVE. The POWER OK LED uses different light patterns to provide a quick visual indication of the controller’s power state. If the LED is blinking, it means that one of the supplies is experiencing a malfunction. When the DRIVE LED is lit, it indicates to the user that the internal hard drive is being accessed.
