National Instruments 780690-33 PXI Embedded Controller

National Instruments 780690-33 is the part number for the PXI-8110 Embedded Controller with Real-Time Embedded Software. This specific software is designed to be closely integrated with hardware- providing systems with enhanced control capabilities and the ability to respond and control within strict time constraints. Equipped with convenient features designed to accommodate a wide variety of industrial applications, the 780690-33 controller boasts a powerful Intel Core 2 Quad processor. This four-core CPU features 2.26 GHz, with an additional 1066 MHz provided by the front side bus. The on-die L2 cache has a capacity of 12 MB that is split evenly between 2 pairings of the four cores. 

There are two LEDs featured on the front panel of the 780690-33: DRIVE and POWER OK. The POWER OK LED indicates changed in the power status of the controller, while the DRIVE LED specifies whether or not the internal hard drive of the device is being accessed. Then the POWER LED is lit and steady, it indicates that both the PXI and the onboard power supply are functioning as expected. If the LED is lit and blinking, the user should be wary of potential errors with one of the suppliers. Of course, if the LED is not lit, it means that the 780690-33 is powered off.  

Due to it’s compact form factor as a PXI 3U size module, the 780690-33 does not include an integrated CD-ROM drive. If the user wants to install additional software to the controller from a CD, there are a few ways to do so. The first option is to use a bootable installation CD to install the software to the controller via a USB CD-ROM. Alternatively, the ethernet connection can be utilized with an additional computer in order to share the CD-ROM drive and map it to a drive letter. to map the shared CD-ROM
