National Instruments PXIE-8379 MXI Controller

The PXIE-8379 (Part Numbers: 782991-01) is a MXI Controller that allows for PXI chassis control from a PC, laptop, desktop, or rackmount control system. The PXIE-8379 creates a multichassis PXI system for optimal data connection and synchronization. The controller allows for up to 13.7 GB/s of data throughput and has multiple copper (up to 10 m) and fiber-optic cable (up to 200 m) options. The PXIE-8379 does not require programming to facilitate the software-transparent link.

The PXIE-8379 MXI Controller offers remote control solutions with the performance and advantages of the PXI platform. Additionally, the PXIE-8379 permits effective chassis control through desktop PCs, rackmount controllers, laptops, or other PXI systems. Using MXIExpress technology, PXI Remote Control Modules create a simple and transparent connection between a host and a PXI chassis/instruments. The PXIE-8379 MXI Controller provides several remote-control options that are suitable for applications requiring high-speed data throughput, long-distance cabling, and host form factors. MXI-Express configuration allows for data streaming and communication between multiple PXI chassis. Multichassis systems support multiple topologies, such as daisy-chain or star. Additionally, PXIE-8379 MXI Controller multichassis configurations allow for the management of multiple PXI chassis management via a singular controller. Along with a master controller and chassis, the PXI configuration posses a high-throughput data movement and makes use of a PCI express bus interface and sub-nanosecond synchronization with integrated timing and triggering.

The PXIE-8379 MXI Controller can leverage multiple features; for example, synchronization and streaming between chassis-separated instruments in a peer-to-peer manner. The configuration may be used with a desktop or laptop.
