National Instruments PXIe-8267 PXI Data Storage Module

The PXIe 8267 (Part Number: 785308-01) offers in-chassis information storage for PXI systems that require high-speed read and write features. This PXI Data Storage Module by National Instruments is well-suited for applications that require the recording of high-speed information, supplementing the PXI system controller’s storage capacity, or transporting information between numerous test setups. The PXIe-8267 Data Storage Module has the following specifications: a module width of 1, 4 NVMe SSD drives, 4 TB storage capacity, and 5 GB/s sustained throughput.

Windows 10 software supports NVMe drives such as the drives on the PXIe 8267 module and does not necessitate more drivers to support the 4 NVMe-based SSD drives. If the user is utilizing Windows 7, then they must use Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or later to enable the Windows 7 NVMe hotfix offered by Microsoft. It is also suggested to always download and install the newest Samsung NVMe driver.

An important note for the user is that the PXIe-8267 needs 58 W of slot cooling capability. There are only two chassis that can deliver greater than or equal to 58 W of cooling. These chassis are the PXIe-1095 and PXIe-1084. However, the PXIe-1095 chassis is recommended for use with the NI PXIe-8267 PXI Data Storage Module because of its 82 W slot-cooling feature and the Gen3x8 PXI Express slots. Another important fact to keep in mind is the power consumption is dependent on the M.2 drive write or read rate and ambient temperature.
