National Instruments PXIe-5641R Reconfigurable IF Transceiver (RIO IF Transceiver Module)

The PXIe-5641R (Part Numbers: 199116A-01L, 780710-01) is a Reconfigurable IF Transceiver dual-input, dual-output intermediate frequency (IF) transceiver. The PXIe-5641R finds its primary applications within the following fields: radio-frequency identification (RFID) test, spectral monitoring, real-time spectrum analysis, RF dynamic test, and software-defined radio (SDR).

The PXIe-5641R has two IF inputs and outputs, two 14-bit, 100 MS/s analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with 20 MHz bandwidth digital upconverters (DUCs), 20 MHz Real-Time IF bandwidth, and built-in digital upconverters and downconverters. The PXIe-5641R has SMB and SMA connectors, external clocking, and features a -143 dBm/Hz noise floor.

The PXIe-5641R Reconfigurable IF Transceiver requires the PXI platform and bus and Real-Time, FPGA, or Windows operating systems. The NI PXIe-5641R Reconfigurable IF Transceiver is a PXI signal transceiver with frequencies between 250 kHz and 80 MHz, 24 dBm of power, 3 A of current, output impedance of 50 Ohms, rail voltages between 3.3 and 12 V, and 128 MB of memory. The module also includes a Xilinx Virtex-5 SX95T array that can be programmed with the NI LabView field-programmable gate array module.

To install, configure, and setup the NI PXIe-5641R Reconfigurable Transceiver, verify the system requirements and assemble the required components. Begin by grounding the device using a grounding strap or grounding object. Select an appropriate application development environment for the PXIe-5641R. Install the software prior to installing the hardware. Connect the analog input (AI), analog output (AO), and digital input/output (DIO) signals. Ensure the NI PXIe-5641R operates within its specified temperature range, otherwise, the onboard sensor can shut down the device. Perform a power-on reset if the device encounters a thermal shutdown.

The PXIe‑5641 Reconfigurable IF Transceiver is a dual-input and -output intermediate frequency (IF) transceiver that accommodates various types of applications involving composite and high-speed signal processing, analysis, and modulation tasks.
