National Instruments PXI-2531 PXI Matrix Switch Module

The National Instruments PXI-2531 (Part Number: 778572-31) is a high-density, 1-Wire, 512 Crosspoint PXI Matrix Switch Module. This model is built specifically to serve automated test systems with a high-channel-count. The NI PXI-2531 comes equipped with the compact, fast reed relays designed to switch at high speeds, i.e. up to 2000 cycles/s. With this module, users can achieve various topologies, including: a 1-wire dual 8 × 32 matrix, 1-wire dual 8 × 32 matrix, 1-wire 8 × 64 matrix, and 1-wire 4 × 128 matrix.

The NI PXI-2531 is designed to provide 0.5 A switching or carry current and 10 W maximum switching power per channel. In typical conditions, with 50 Ω termination, this module offers ≥20 MHz bandwidth and <-70 dB, typical channel-to-channel crosstalk within a frequency band of 10 kHz to 100 kHz. This switch module comes equipped with 2 x 150 position Samter ERM8 Series I/O connectors. The mechanical relay life and actuating or release time of the relays used in this module is 1 x 10⁹ cycles and 0.25 ms respectively.

The PXI-2531 has a simultaneous drive limit of 40 relays, with a 0.25 ms relay operating time. However, when used in a PXI Express chassis, 64 relays can be driven simultaneously. This Matrix Switch Module can receive trigger signals through PXI trigger lines (0 to 7) at 150 ns minimum pulse width. To output trigger signals, it utilizes the same PXI trigger lines, but at 1 µs to 62 µs programmable pulse width.
