Astronics Ballard Technology/National Instruments LV-222-511-000 PXI MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module

The LV-222-511-000 (Part Number: 784797-01) is a 2-Channel PXI MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module. This PXI MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module is offered by National Instruments but is designed by Astronics/Ballard Technology. This module is a combination of 1 OmniBus II PXI board and 1 interface module. The PXI board utilized in this module is designed to host as many as two different or identical interface boards. By adding two modules, you can construct a 4-channel system to access more MIL-STD-1553 avionics databusses. The module included in this package is a single-function board with two channels. However, the LV-222-511-000 offers three levels of functionality, including Remote Terminal (RT), Bus Monitor Operation, and Bus Control. 

The LV-222-511-000 offers various advanced features as well. These features include protocol error injection and multi-terminal simulation (for as many as 32 terminals). This PXI MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module allows you to set the installed module’s RT response time individually in software. The protocol circuitry operates with a selectable Clock Switch. Thus, you can use the PXI connector’s clock input or the internal 100 MHz oscillator for the protocol circuitry. This setting can easily be adjusted with the help of a dedicated “slide to select” clock switch provided on the PXI MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module. 

The discrete outputs of this module are capable of sinking up to a maximum of 200 mA current. These outputs are open-ground switches with the capability to withstand up to 35 VDC. The 16 1553 discrete I/O provided on this module can be configured to function as general-purpose digital I/O.
