National Instruments PXI-4138 Source Measure Unit

The NI PXI-4138 is a 3 A, ±60 V Source Measure Unit. This model is designed to deliver speed and high precision and considered as an ideal solution for a wide range of applications including broad-level test, manufacturing test and lab characterization. The NI PXI-4138 can be used with various devices such as PMICs, ICs, RFICs, and LEDs. This Source Measure Unit supports 4-quadrant operation as well. This source measure unit is a hardware-timed precision instrument.

The integration of a high-speed sequencing engine enables the PXI-4138 for synchronized acquisitions between multiple source measure units (SMUs). With this module, you will be able to achieve direct DMA streaming between the SMU and host PC. So, streaming of measurement data and large waveforms at the full sample rate (1.8 MS/s) and update rate (100 kS/s) of the instrument will not be an issue. The National Instruments NI PXI-4138 comes equipped with Sense and Guard terminals on its output connector. Guard terminals can be used to implement guarding functions in test fixtures and cabling. Whereas, Sense terminals provides compensation for current-resistance related losses in switches and cables.

Like any other National Instruments SMU, the PXI-4138 can also be programmed through a driver software called NI-DCPower. The NI DCPower is available free of cost and is an IVI-compatible instrument driver. This software can communicate with all National Instruments SMUs and power supplies. Moreover, it comes featured with a comprehensive set of pre-defined operations- empowering even novice users for unit`s hustle free configuration.
