National Instruments PXI-5412 PXI Waveform Generator

The National Instruments PXI-5412 (part numbers: 779176-01, 779176-02, 779176-03) is an Arbitrary Waveform Generator that utilizes computerized interpolation to enhance the output signal nature of smooth waveforms. This device features a maximum bandwidth of 20 MHz in addition to an update rate of up to 100 MS per second, making it a perfect choice for test applications of all sizes. The part numbers of the PXI-5412 differ in their onboard memory size. Part number 779176-01 has 8 MB, part number 779176-02 features 32 mb, and part number 779176-03 is equipped with 256 MB.

The front panel of the NI PXI-5412 features four SMB jack connectors made for a variety of functions- including analog output (CH 0), sample clock input (CLK IN), and marker output / trigger input (PFI 0, PFI 1). The front panel of the generator is also equipped with two LED indicators which provide insight into the status of the device at a glance. The ACCESS LED displays the status of both the PCI bus and of the interface between the PXI-5412 and the controller. The ACTIVE LED displays the status of the device’s onboard generation hardware.

By using a mix of digital interpolation and analog filtering, the PXI-5412 Waveform Generator is capable of excellent passband flatness and improved image dismissal- guaranteeing a low-distortion output signal. Sharp waveforms can be disabled, resulting in quick rise/fall times and low pulse deviation (overshoot, undershoot, and so on).

The NI PXI-5412 utilizes the NI-FGEN driver software, which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio. It has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes, and it should be externally calibrated at least once every 2 years.
