National Instruments PCI-7041/6040E Multifunction Data Acquisition Board

The National Instruments PCI-7041/6040E (Part Number: 778254-01) is a Multifunction Data Acquisition Board from the RT Series. This device offers deterministic, real-time, reliable I/O for a Windows-based desktop computer. The NI 7041 processor board incorporated in this DAQ system comes equipped with a 700 MHz Pentium III processor. The NI PCI-7041/6040E has two 12-bit analog outputs, two 24-bit counter/timers, and eight digital I/O lines. This high performance, plug-in type board adds a broad range of control and measurement applications to an existing desktop system while using only one PCI slot.

 For running National Instruments LabVIEW Real-Time applications, the processor board features 32 MB of CompactFlash, 32 MB of SDRAM, as well as high-speed dual port memory for interfacing to the host machine. Moreover, this model also has a peripheral I/O plug-in board that comes with one standard serial port, one external connector for watchdog/timers, and two user programmable LEDs. This additional peripheral board enables users to connect their PCI-7041/6040E to existing systems for the construction of a comprehensive real-time control system. However, this will require two PCI slots with the additional I/O peripheral board intact.

 This model utilizes hardware for the streaming of data back to the host machine at much better rates. This configuration allows for the sharing of data with the host Windows-based machine while creating real-time applications at rates up to 2 MB/sec. The National Instruments PCI-7041/6040E Multifunction Data Acquisition Board offers single PID loop rates up to 26 kHz (maximum).
